Ain't that life!

Hi, my name is Joel Ra`eb Dabars. These are personal stories that might have happened in your life. I am the narrator and your host. Our story is about four people. People who have never met nor have came across each others path before this day. Sitting in a booth in a small town resteraunt having lunch which starts them on a journey of realizations.. And that is where our story begins.

Tommy Watkins walked in the resteraunt, really hungry on a windy rainy afternoon. The time was about 2 pm. He strode in carrying a book. A book that you don't find much people carrying anymore. It had on the title written, Holy Bible. Realizing that this man was different than most and what could take place with a man that carrys a bible around, all that preaching, the hostess, seeing the book and its title sat him in a far corner table to the right of what was now an empty building, which for hours previously was bustling with perviours of food and talk. Meeting friends and family, enjoying what life has to offer.

Tommy ordered a bowl of Chicken chili with a side of Buffalo Chicken tenders. And opened up the book that he brought with him. Tommy is one that loves to just let the bible pick a passage for him to read, by just opening the book and where it opens, that is what he reads. A few minutes later a man and woman came in the door. The woman was dressed very nicely. In a white dress that had no sleeves. The dress had little round black dots all over. And she was quite attractive. Being attractive made Tommy notice her. And he noticed that something was wrong. "Oh yes", Tommy thought to himself, "this woman is upset." "What could be the matter," Tommy thought to himself. Tommy was the kind of guy who could not stand to see a woman cry. It hurt him deep down in side. He watched as the hostess guided them to a place where they would be alone. The Gentlemen with her wore a blue herringbone suit and a blue solid silk tie. He looked very nice as well. His hair was immaculate. Very dark blown dry hair. Soft looking. It was parted to the right side. Tommy, who was a dirty blond, thought to himself, "I wonder what it would be like to be in this mans shoes." "Hm, to have such great looks. To be a dark hair instead of a dirty hair. I guess I will never know," Tommy thought to himself. The Hostess must have liked this side of the building. It must be a place where they sit all that they construde as troubled customers. She sat them right in front of Tommy. Tommy went back to reading the bible.

Tommy opened the book and the page that he landed on was Hosea 12:6. He read the words, " Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually. Tommy smiled. "Now what could that mean" Tommy giggled to himself. As he giggled he heard crying coming in front of him. The woman, in her late 30's was sobbing profusely. "What is going on"? Tommy thought to himself. Then he heard the man speak with a deep voice, but very softly to the woman. He called her name Anny. Tommy thought to himself, "oh, that is such a perfect name for this woman, who looked so innocent, someone that you just want to protect from life's misery". The Gentlemen said,"Anny, I am so very sorry. Please don't cry. You heard the preacher. Vic is in heaven with God now. There is no more suffering for him. I know your sad, and you miss him. But it is the best thing for him." Anny, still with water coming out of her eyes said, " I know, but I don't know. Vic wasn't to good with this sort of things". Sniffling, "do we really go to heaven when we die? Dan, do we? And if we don't, what happens to us"?

Just then, the waitress pardoned herself and asked if she could get them anything. Dan said, just a cup of coffee for both of us. The waitress smiled and said, "gotcha hon, one cup of java for the lady and gentleman." After the waitress poured there cups of coffee and had left, Dan said, "Anny honey, I don't know for sure about these things. I have read and heard often that when we die we go to heaven. And I suppose now would be a good time to find out." "Yes", snifflings and whiping her nose, Anny said nasily. "Okay Anny, I will go and talk to the preacher right after we finish this cup." "Okay Dan", said Anny, "but I won't go with you. I won't be able to handle such a conversation. You go and talk to him, and let me know", sniffling, "what he has said. Right now, I can't finish this coffee. But you stay here and finish yours. I will be alright. I just want to go for a walk by myself anyways." Dan responded, " really, Okay, I will see you at home won't I"? "Yes, I just need to be by myself for a bit." "Okay Anny, you do just that and I will go and talk to the preacher." Anny stood up and walked around the table. Wiping her eyes dry she bent down and gave Dan a kiss, and a look that said to him, everything will be okay. And she walked to the door, turned and smiled, and kept on going. Dan watched her closely as she turned left on to the street and passed the final edge of the front window. Dan just bowed his head deep into his lap, with sadness.

Tommy, hearing all this, got up from his table and approached the gentlemen who's name was Dan. Tapping the shoulder of the blue herringbone jacket Tommy said, "Sir, I really couldn't help but over hear the sadness that came from this table, and the questions that you have asked. Now, I am not a preacher. And I don't know all the answers, but I do dabble in the word and I was wondering if we could um find the answer to those questions together"? Dan, looked up, his eyes brightened, "Yes, um, Yes, that would be good, because I am always afraid to ask the preacher, and since your not one, um, finding it out together, might be the best way." Tommy replaced Anny accross the table from Dan. He called the waitress over and paid her for the meal and asked for a large chocolate milkshake while he was talking to Dan.
